Meaning to say, which would you mostly prefer?

I see the key words in your question to be “Make Homemade”.
It is much simpler for the home hobbyist to make a homemade wind turbine out of commonly bought parts over making solar cells. Solar cells are the term for photovoltaic components. Solar water heating would be simpler still.

Wind turbines because they can generate power 24/7 vs solar cells which can only give you power when the sun is out.
If you are thinking of building a solar hot water system, the thermosiphon system is the best to build. It has no moving parts to wear out and requires no electricity.

It would really depend on your geographical place, but all things copy solar solutions tend to have some advantages:
• There are no moving parts
• The system requires less monitoring
• The energy output is more predictable
• It makes no noise and is more conspicuous
• Less succeptable to lightning and wind hurt
• Requires less space given that the panels can be installed on a roof
• No potential permit problems with local ordinances
There is a gentleman from Minnesota named John Russel that has implemented an fascinating and low-priced do it yourself method to generate power in your home (both solar and wind). You can find his tale here:http://tinyurl.com/os2co2

A wise amalgamation… solar works on day-light, wind-power can make energy all through night and unsettled weather…
Let’s not forget, we need to increase storage space devices too – one excellent storm could copy months of FREE energy
FREE i.e. once gear paid off (companies really should start offering low-priced DIY kits – there’s bounty of profit to be made selling persons, we should be able to buy on instalments…)

I’m from New York, wind energy would be my best bet. Solar can work also but personal a wind mill is simpler to make, less expensive, and would last longer.

Both
Solar cells are excellent while the sun is bright, so no power at night and barely all through cloudy days, this is where wind comes in, as long as enough wind is blowing you got power to recharge your batteries.

Wind. It is much cheaper and simple to set up.
Solar has not really gotten to the point where the savings outweigh the cost of the gear yet.
Ofcourse wind does not work in all areas, but it works where Im from.

I would do both. And work very Hard to increase each system. It may come to pass it would be the only source of electrical power unfilled. It gets real cold here in the northwest side of Lake Michigan

Neither.
I live in an area where wind is seldom and it’s mostly foggy all through thw winter. Solar cells pay for themselves in 25 years, but you have to replace the panel in 10 years. So yeah.

A wind turbine will be much simpler for a normal home clever man to place together. The solar panels are just too expensive.

I’m in Florida so solar cells.
Wind turbines in a hurricane probably wouldn’t be a excellent thought!

Concentrated solar heating of MagMa

Solar cells because there is always sun but it’s not always windy.
