Fantastic work guys ! But this thought of solar boiler ,looks too huge and not very productive to me .You might wanna check on Israeli solution for this called “dude shemesh” in Hebrew or “sun boiler” in English
.The system is a bit more complicated than your solution ,but much smaller and effective .I bet with your advanced techniques that i saw in other videos ,it will be no problem for you to build such system in no time .Me personally don’t use electricity to heat water even in winters .

Have you considered putting the coils surrounded by of a sealed wooden box with glass top. You could build a large wooden box out of plywood for cheap. Use 1inch foam insulation board on the bottom and sides and then place the coiled tubing surrounded by the box. For the lid of the box use ancient storm door glass. I’m betting that this sealed system would increase your water temps tremendously. Just google solar can heater and apply the same principle to your water heater using tubing as a replacement for of cans.

For colder areas, Parabolic mirror, directed at metal surface could be used in some way.. Perhaps copper pipe would be more suited in that case, as I would reckon that pipe could melt at much lower temps than copper.. You can get copper in small to large coils.. I suggest you try that also. It would be clean to see.

I am thinking, you do not need as much of a large area to provided hot water when using a medium to large parabolic mirror(s), fresnel lens(es) I reckon the water will get hot much quicker that way and require maybe half that space.

We plot to get more solar panels and get grid tied with some more batteries some time at the beginning of next year and see how it goes. Keep up the excellent work , I loved your other videos also.

Also through the 2nd 2″ hole there is another 100ft coil the feeds my baseboard heat ” which is closed loop and seperate from house water. This pipe also runs through a wood fired 2 barrel stove ” to use in winter and when there is no sun out” a packed stove burns for 12 – 16 hrs of heat. Sun solar battery back up runs pumps. Our budget billing for utility gas and eletric went from a budget of $295 per month down to $120 per month the first year.
